It is with deep sadness that we advise Colin Embley died on 7th February 2018.
Colin’s energy and enthusiasm for the preservation of WH Allen heritage is an inspiration to all. As the perfect team player, Colin was always one of the first to volunteer for whatever was needed, be it practical hands-on work in rescuing and restoring landmark diesel engines or as Secretary of the Association; in this role he worked tirelessly, whether it was recording heritage assets, taking minutes of meetings or organising the AGM and associated visits.
Colin’s attention to detail and meticulous planning were legendary, as all members lucky enough to have attended one of these events will confirm. Astute and profoundly eloquent when acting on behalf of the Association, Colin could number friends from many parts of the world.
The Association has sent heartfelt condolences to Colin’s wife, Angela, and to their family. An emotional and difficult time for all who knew Colin, we share their grief and loss. Colin will be greatly missed by many.
The funeral will be on Tuesday 27th February at 12 noon at St Owen’s Church, Bromham. The family has requested no flowers please. However, donations will be gratefully received for “Addenbrookes Charitable Trust – Neuro Science”. Cheques should be sent to Clarabut & Plumbe Funeral Directors, 11 Kingsway, Bedford, MK42 9BJ
