One sixth scale model of a 12 cylinder V-form Allen S12 Diesel Alternator Set. Constructed in 1965 by Apprentices and Students in the W H Allen Training Centre, at Queens Engineering Works in Bedford. The model is electrically driven from below.
The full sized engines had cylinders of 9 inches diameter bore, and 12 inches stroke. Most S12 V-form engines were turbocharged and generated between 600 and 1000 kW at 750 rpm.
This model was restored in 2007 by David Combes, a “Junior Student” at Allens from 1957 to 1961.
